All dancers at Dance Creations get the opportunity to perform on stage. The Performance Program was created for dancers and families who would like to the opportunity to learn to dance in class but with less travel commitments than the Accelerated program.
Performance level dancers will attend once per week classes and learn one routine where they will travel only once to an out-of-town, and also perform locally at the year end recital, "DC Showcase" in Slave Lake.
You may choose to join in as little as one class per week, or join more classes if you wish. There are no pre-requisites for joining, and dancers are grouped with similar aged children where they are given appropriate goals and lessons based on their ability and experience.
Ballet is a genre of dance which develops control, posture and grace. Not always slow and steady, ballet offers lots of movement, and strength building. Ballet serves as a building block to every dance style Dance Creations offers, and is an important step in establishing correct technique that not just looks good, but promotes safe dance practice and injury prevention.
Jazz is a genre of dance that has mostly quick, strong and energetic movements. Pop music is generally incorporated into classes and dance routines, and students enjoy the familiarity of music they know.
Jazz is genre of dance that builds progressively through the years and can serve as good knowledge base for genres such as Lyrical that become available to older dancers.
Combination "combo" classes incorporate both Jazz and Ballet into one class. The class will generally be split evenly to incorporate both genres, but there will only be one dance learned and performed.
This class may be a good option if you're limited for time, or your dance is unsure what to pursue.
